What You Do Today

President Obama’s eulogy for John McCain on September 1, 2018 included these thought-provoking words from For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway. (This quote was one of McCain’s favorites.)

“Today is only one day in all the days that will ever be. But what will happen in all the other days that ever come can depend on what you do today.”

What if we each asked ourselves this question: What can I do today that will help create the country I want for all of us?
Paul Wellstone, a Senator from Minnesota and leader of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party until his tragic death in a plane crash in 2002, said: “The future belongs to those who are passionate and work hard.”

What is the hard work we each need to do today to create the country we know is possible?

What is one small step we can take today that will impact all the other days ahead?
